Indiana Afterschool Network

Vision: All Indiana children and youth will have access to high quality, affordable afterschool and summer learning programs.

Updates:

  1. IAN and the Indiana Afterschool Standards Taskforce have completed the development of standards for the state of Indiana.  Download Indiana Afterschool Standards.  
  2. IAN has a web-based database and map to identify afterschool program locations and gaps for funders, policy makers, providers, and schools.  Families can use the database as a resource too.  Click here to post your program's information.
  3. IAN is presenting at the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns annual conference October 5 to Indiana mayors on the value of afterschool and strategies for cities to expand programs.
  4. The Indiana Department of Education sent IAN information to all Title 1 and IDEA directors about the role of afterschool in accelerating student achievement. Download flyer.

Indiana Dropout Prevention Summit

Estimated Attendance: 900.  Every county in Indiana is invited to send a representative team.  Team members include policy makers, businesses, service providers, parents and family, youth, faith communities, juvenile justice, educators, and every corporation superintendent.  Make sure that afterschool is represented on your county's team!  Teams will hear keynote speakers with an expertise in dropout prevention and attend breakout sessions.  Free.

Lights On Events to Promote Afterschool in Indiana   
Join more than 7,500 communities and 1 million Americans to celebrate the 10th Annual Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide rally for afterschool programs organized by the Afterschool Alliance.  Indiana programs and communities are invited to host celebrations in their areas.

Summer Advantage USA
Summer Advantage USA provides scientifically-proven learning opportunities for students during summer months.  Students make strong academic gains in literacy and math and participate in art, music, drama, robotics, community service projects and  field trips. The organization will grow to serve 25,000+ students annually, with the majority of sites eventually operated by franchisees. Franchisees will be selected through a competitive process. For a small fee, franchisees receive access to evidence-based program model, curriculum, training, evaluation and assessment tools, and technical assistance.  Summer Advantage is now hiring outreach coordinators short-term (3-4 weeks), part-time (up to 10-15 hrs/wk) to assist in Aug/Sept enrollment efforts in Decatur Township, Lawrence, Indianapolis, Ft Wayne, East Chicago, Elkart, Evansville, Gary and Hammond. INDACS FESTIVAL and COMPETITION

Indiana Dramatic Arts and Communications Festival and Competition is an opportunity for children, youth and adults to share their passion for poetry, drama and communication. The Festival features fun activities and food for parents, siblings and friends. Local organizations that support the Arts are invited to share information about poetry, acting and more.  Participants can perform in front of Judges and receive supportive written and oral critique.
